[ANNOUNCEMENT] Server Outage

There was a brief downtime last night; I screwed up the DNS entries. By the time you're reading this, apparently all is working again.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Update 00:15 GMT: As it turned out, the server setup was screwed up as well, erratically delivering feed data to unrelated feeds. :(

I don't find the right words to tell you how sorry I am about this. As you might imagine, this didn't happen intentionally. There's no excuse for this, especially since some public aggregators like Bloglines have picked up the erratic feed items by now. The feeds are working again, just like before the incident, but I can't deny there was some damage done. I especially want to apologize to all you nice people who have requested custom feeds. I am sorry. I'll try my best to ensure this won't happen again.

-Carlo

So, would that explain a bunch of my comics feeds suddenly flooding with links from the German site http://www.heute.t-online.de/? :-D

I don't think they've been updated since they were working, but it was pretty funny. ^_^

Yes, I'm working on it. I'm currently fixing everything. *sigh* Expect the feeds to be up working correctly again within the next 6 hours.

Sorry for the downtime.

No need to feel bad about it, or apologizing. You provide a valuable service which /is/ appreciated, and we all know weird things can happen once you 'su -' ;)

A huge thank you for all the feeds.

RAR SO ANGRY.

Or.. no.

Thank you, Carlos, for the work you do daily, or whenever you do it, for it is certainly quite good work.

Dude, it's all good. I can't tell you how happy I am that I can get feeds from some of these sites on a regular basis - we really really really appreciate all the work you put into this. If one day I get a bunch of feeds in German and I think maybe I'm hallucinating, who's to say I don't hallucinate on a regular basis anyway? :P And hey, it happens. :}

thanks for your feeds.
the dns glitch was amusing, and not a real problem for me.

during the outage, i did notice that http://www.pythonware.com/daily/ has it's own full text feed now. so i'm using it now instead of yours.

thanks again.

It was kind of fun to see "Jakob Nielsen's Alertbox" spewing out German. :)

Your obviously-sincere and profuse apology is greatly appreciated. A simple "oops" would have sufficed, but it's nice to know you care so much about this service. Thanks!

First off, thanks for providing a fantastic service!

Is there any chance the error message could be retired from the top of the feeds now?

My somewhat limited feed reader doesn't mark them as new content because it only checks the top item.

Cheers

Paul
